Well I haven't uploaded stuff lately. So I figure I should put something up in my escapades in gross things I can do to my face.
I've been trying to find better ways to replicate burn scars (my first attempt also being on this account, only it was two-dimensional), and so I tried to get something three-dimensional. Tragically it doesn't look too much like an actual burn scar (this is due greatly to the way I colored it - it's very dry looking, it's almost more of a very old chemical burn or just a huge callous on one side of my face), though it does look rather painful, so I was happy with it either way.
Next stop, casting prosthetics. Hopefully it won't end poorly for me.
It really is hard to pull off an old burn scar. I tried it with gelatin, but ended up making it fresh looking.
Kudos for trying. You did achieve one interesting texture.
One of these days I'll have to give it another go myself.

I found if you put gelatin on thin enough, its not too bad, you just have to latex the crap out of as gelatin dries shiny. Though I've never had much luck with gelatin, so I'm not the greatest authority.
It wasn't exactly as planned, to be sure, but at least I've found a fun way to get massive lye burn effects. Just without the shine. Really my best bet is going to be just sucking it up and casting a prosthetic, I'm just poor and DragonSkin costs more than I'd care to pay at the moment.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
